12 Months to Wholeness – Month One

We are at the Beginning of a new 12 Month Cycle of Discovery with the Lord!

New gifts and new talents will be discovered, and old gifts and talents will be strengthened!  More of God’s Purpose and Plan will be revealed!

It’s the beginning of another year! This is not the new year as most calendars go.  It is still 5778 in the Jewish civil year, and the Gregorian calendar will remain at 2018.

However, what is beginning again is the spiritual calendar, or the calendar of months.  This is the time of year where we begin our yearly walk with the Lord.

It started back in Exodus, when the Lord said to Moses and Aaron,

“This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year.” Exodus 12:2

The First Month as Established and Consecrated
At that announcement and through the obedience of Moses and Aaron, the first month was established and consecrated.  God gave them instructions as to what to do that month.  This was the first New Moon (Month) Nisan.

Later in that same month on the 14th of Nisan, at the time of the Full moon, the Israelites carried out the instructions given to them on the first day of that month, and they were delivered from over 400 years of bondage.

God set forth a pattern to be followed by those He has redeemed.  The months are timekeepers of the year.  Each one holds its own special treasures which God is waiting to give to us.

An Annual Reminder of Redemption
Nisan is an annual reminder that Israel’s life as the people of God is grounded in God’s redemptive act found in Exodus, and it is a reminder of God’s redemptive act through His Son Yeshua 2000 years ago.  In Nisan, the Lord, Yeshua ha Mashiach, Jesus the Christ, overcame the bondage of our ‘Egypts’ through His death, burial and resurrection and gave us eternal life.

And for those that are not Believers yet, this month provides the perfect opportunity to accept this gift, as it is the month of miracles and freedom!  Salvation is available at all times, but Passover is a particularly powerful time to accept the Lord as their Savior.

A Time for Taking Inventory

Spiritually, this is a time of taking inventory of our lives and removing the sin that so easily entangles us.  Sin is serious.  It leads to bondage, which leads to frustration, which leads to addictions and confusion, which leads to becoming less and less of who we are created to be.  We are not able to do what we want to do.  We are bound by sin.

If temptation is not controlled, it can easily get out of hand and will lead to sin. We all deal with it to one degree or another.  It will never go away.  We need to learn how to deal with it.

There is a Way to Deal with This

The good news is that the Lord provides a way for us to deal with the temptations of life and to make us whole.

Our wholeness begins with salvation through His Son and continues with life guidance through God’s Word and the appointed times that He has put in place.  As we go through all the cycles with the Lord, we will grow in our relationship with Him.   This gives us better understanding of ourselves and we can experience freedom from bondage.

Nisan is a month where we are called to review our lives and take responsibility for it.  It is a time to be cleansed from the sins that have bound us, and to begin to live in the freedom that faith in our Savior affords us.  Redemption and responsibility is the theme of this month.

God has a plan for our victory!
It all begins this month! Nisan!  Nisan is the “In the beginning” of Genesis 1.  According to Biblical tradition, Nisan is when the world was created.

In this same month as Creation 1500 years later, the Lord established a calendar of appointed times to meet with and guide those whom He has redeemed.  This is where He intended us to meet with Him each New Moon, dedicate the month to Him, and receive the regeneration and the guidance for the month.

Life Area of ‘Self’
To live our lives to the fullest, we need to understand God and His plan for our lives, and we need to understand ourselves.  We are the main actor in this play of life, and understanding who we are, what our purpose and calling is, as well as the challenges within ourselves that need to be dealt with, are key to becoming all we were destined to be by God during our lifetime on Earth.

The first month has a connection with the heavens that affects everyone in their yearly journey.  So, at this month of new beginnings, Nisan, we will start by taking a look at the Life Area of Self – which is the main actor in this endeavor!

Me, Myself and I.
Self.  This is the cornerstone of who you are.  Your personality.  Your character.  Your ego. It’s how you are perceived, your image, behavior or manner of being, health and vitality, attitude, general disposition, appearance, your body.

In particular, this month we are going to focus on responsibilities and boundaries.

  • Taking responsibility for our lives.  Including our body, soul and spirit.
  • Knowing our boundaries – with others and for ourselves, and learning how to establish and keep them.

We must realize that we are responsible for all of this!
Many place the responsibility for themselves on others when they don’t like the results of their lives.  They blame others then develop issues and various addictions to help them deal with the frustration and anger of not being able to live their lives the way they want.

Some people are in situations where they are not thriving but cannot leave due to jobs, committed relationships, or other responsibilities.  When they cannot deal with these situations constructively, the strain and tension need to be dealt with and as a result relief must be found some way.

Or they allow others to run their lives, and do not take hold of the ‘helm’ to steer their own lives.  They don’t take responsibility for their own lives.

Our body, soul and spirit are always growing and adjusting to life.  When we must adapt to very uncomfortable circumstances our body tries to adjust, but sometimes it just can’t.  And that is when release eventually has to be found.

Healthy boundaries.
When we don’t take responsibility for ourselves, boundaries are not well defined.  How far people and situations can come in to your lives are set by boundaries.  Boundaries also identify how much responsibility you have to live up to others’ expectations and desires rather than yours.

We all have to give and take and bend to work with people, but sometimes people do not stand up for themselves and become a punching bag for others.  Their self-worth boundary has been stretched so thin that they cannot even defend themselves.

You are responsible for living your life.  When you are married or in a committed relationship, you have responsibility to try to work with each other.  Compromise and negotiations are necessary.  Even so, you are responsible for living YOUR life.

You don’t have to run away to be yourself.  Just remind those that you are living with that you are an individual with rights to exist and to be honored as an independent creation.

Your individual life and calling are very important, and you are responsible for them.
Why?  One day we will all stand before the Lord and give an account of our lives.  And we can prepare for that event while we are here on this earth.

Knowing who you are – the person God created you to be, is key to being able to take responsibility for yourself.  The Lord has a blueprint of your life, so you can understand and take responsibility.

Nisan is the perfect month for taking responsibility for our lives.  Nisan provides the ideal environment to start a fresh, wipe the slate clean, and get the true direction for your life.

Setting Your Course for the Month of Nisan
At this first month of the spiritual year, look at your life and set your course to live your life according to God’s plan, give your life to the Lord and ask Him to help you to do it to the best of your ability, and acknowledge that you are responsible for yourself.

It is not a selfish introspection we are doing this month.  Being selfish is generally an indication of not having enough love.  The love of God.  Feeling and knowing the Love of God.  If you are depleted most likely you are trying to get self-satisfaction at another person’s expense.

The goal of this 12 Month “Esther Type” preparation (good for Men and Women alike!), is to integrate our new-found gifts and talents into the body of believers, fulfilling our individual part in God’s Kingdom in a more complete way.

The Great Processes and Procedures of God’s appointed Times and Seasons.
There is spiritual importance to bringing our lives into the life giving processes and procedures of God’s appointed times and season.  Each time through them they bring us more wholeness through a closer relationship to God and the world and the people He has placedd in our lives.  Messiah’s atonement on the Tree of Sacrifice gives us ‘at-one-ment’ with God – we are one with Him – and through spending time in God’s Word and living our lives in tune with God’s appointed times and seasons we learn how to be the heirs of the kingdom.

Rosh Chodesh – New Moon Nisan 5778/2018 – Application

Applying the Wholeness Key for this Month: “I acknowledge that I am responsible for my life.”

“I acknowledge that I am responsible for my life.”

What does that mean to you?  Does it make you glad or does it frighten you?

What areas do you feel you are or aren’t responsible in?

Accepting responsibility can make you anxious.  You may feel it’s too hard to be responsible, and would rather give up certain freedoms in order not to have to take responsibility.

Let the Lord build up your confidence.

Take a look at your dreams and desires in the light of your new views of responsibility.

Take responsibility! of your dreams and desires!  Plan out ways to accomplish them – to move a step closer toward their fulfilment.
